3. Notes

Our Chapter is the only APS-Chapter (not joined). Chapter membership increased from 59 in January 1999 to 65 in January 2000. This is due to a judicious recruitment campaign, not due to a sponsor’s support. Almost all members (except for 8) are self-paid. We continue the special service to our members and candidates, in order to help money payment by means of the IEEE Custody Account.

We organized Special APS Session on Moscow Student Conference at the end February-begin March 2000 (with the Best Student Paper Contest).

We organized APS Session on Annual May-2000 Popov's Conference. Please see: Antennas for All Frequency and Bands & Opto-Electronic Devices Session Program (in Russian)

Now we have 3 Senior Member in our Chapter. We have many well qualified antenna specialists among our Members and we will try to increase the number of Senior Members in future.

We stabilize our annual activity, having about 12-15 different events (including the International Antenna Conferences and every month seminars. We stabilize also average Meeting Attendance in 1999-2000 (about 35). We operated our chapter without imposing any financial burden on our members.

We are widely using INTERNET and EMAIL in our activity. Our Home Page is located at http://ieee.orbita.ru/aps. We update our WEB-page two/three times each month. You may see on our WEB-page all Annual Chapter Reports 1996 - 2000, announcements and full programs of our conferences and every-month seminars, and also chapter news and references to other interesting IEEE pages.

All our activities have been open to both IEEE and non-IEEE members and students. Each our meeting was held in a collegial atmosphere where all participants could interact on both technical and non-technical issues.

If You are ever in Moscow come to our meeting. If that’s not possible, at least contact me or one of our officers. We care and share.
